2014 will go down as one of the best homecomings at SHS yet!!
Together our students brought in more than 2000 food items for the food drive and raised over $1400 for their classes and the Sparta Angel Tree program!!
Congratulations for the Seniors on winning the Red Apple and to the freshmen on the valiant fight to the end...only 1.5 points separated first and second place! Great job to all the classes and advisors on their great efforts and unity last week! You were all amazing!
Congrats also to the 2014 Homecoming Queen and King: Danielle Hamell and Jacob Shivers! Way to go Spartans!

10/8/14 Update
Homecoming Announcements
In today’s
tourist day dress up contest:
The Seniors
were first with 65% dressed
The Sophomores
and Freshmen were tied with 40% each and
The juniors
were 4th with 34% dressed!
Don’t forget
to support your favorite team on tomorrow’s fan day!! (no still no hats)
The results
of the food drive are in and SHS was amazing in the support and food you
brought into our community!! The turn-out
was the best in years with SHS collecting well over 2000 items!! In fourth place were the juniors with 205 in
third were the sophomores with 447 in 2nd were the seniors with 499
and in first were the freshmen with a whopping 1037!! Two full truck loads worth of food was
donated to our community!! Great job

for the Red Apple the Freshmen still hold the lead with 39.5 points but the
seniors are close behind with 36.5 points.
The sophomores are sitting third but looking to move and the juniors are
in fourth!

10/7 Update
Homecoming Announcements:
Lots of Hats today!!
In first there was a tie both with 70% with hats the Seniors
and the Freshmen. Next with 64% in hats
were the juniors and in 4th with 63% hatted were the sophomores.
In the Red Apple Race the Freshmen are still in the lead
with 29.5 points but anything could happen tomorrow with Penny a Point and the
food drive counting as double and Tourist Dress Up Day (NO HATS will be allowed
the rest of the week J )

At last
Friday’s Soccer Game:
The Seniors
had the greatest attendance, followed by the freshmen, then the juniors and
finally the sophomores.
In today’s
twin day the freshmen were first with 39% twinners, the juniors were 2nd
with 38% twinning, the seniors were 3rd with 34% twins, and the
sophomores had 19% participation.
As we begin
Homecoming week 2014 the Juniors are making their way back into the race with
13.5 points, the Sophomores sit in 3rd with 17.5 points, the Seniors
are 2nd with 23 points and the Freshmen are still in first with 26
points.
Reminder
that all food and money must be into your advisor no later than 7:30 Wednesday
am to be counted. Those events count as
double points in the Red Apple Race.

For class
color day today the seniors were first with 74% wearing black – the Freshmen
were in 2nd with 65% wearing blue – the sophomores were in 3rd
with 53% in purple and the juniors were in 4th with a solid 50% in
white – great job
In the
t-shirt design contest it was a tight race but the freshmen were victorious
with 86 points the JUNIORS were second with 83 points and the Sophomores and
Seniors tied with 78 points each

are in 4th with 8.5 points
The sophomores
are in 3rd with 15.5 points

are in 2nd with 17 points and
The FRESHMEN

Tonight
attendance will be taken for points at the Sparta soccer games – students will
get in free with student ID’s find Mrs. Rumsey between 4:30 and the end of the
first half of the Varsity Soccer game to be counted for your class.

Wow what a tight race for the Red Apple
In what is turning out to be the tightest Red Apple Race in
recent history we have the following update:
In tonight's attendance at Varsity Volleyball-the
Freshmen were the winners with the sophomores following closely behind. Next were the Seniors with the juniors in
fourth! Great effort was given by our
Spartan ladies and our amazing student section was very impressive great job to
all in attendance!!
In the standings for the Red Apple:
The Freshmen and Sophomores are tied for first place with 12
points each---the seniors are very very close behind with 11.5 points and the
juniors are trailing in fourth.
Get ready for this to be serious as we have class t shirt
count and design on Friday, Soccer attendance on Friday and dress up days all
next week!! Will this be the year the
freshmen pull off the miracle? Will the
mighty sophomores dominate? Will the
Seniors fulfill their destiny or will the juniors come from behind for the
upset?? Only one more week make it great

And we are off...
...court has been chosen and the games have begun. Most classes have already gotten started with their floats and mock rocks please try to participate or encourage your student, it is a great way to get involved with your class. We have also already started taking points for the activities including attendance at the JV volleyball tournament last Saturday, the Cross Country Jamboree on Wednesday and the JV football game on Thursday. At this moment the Seniors are in the lead by one half of a point over the sophomores with the freshmen closing in. Next week points will be taken at the Varsity Volleyball game on the 30th, at the Varsity Soccer match on the 3rd and in the t-shirt contest (class t shirts on Friday the 3rd). Classes should also be bringing in food for the food drive and change for the penny a point contest. Let's go Spartans!!

2014 Homecoming Parade
We will once again be hosting a Homecoming Parade through town! The parade will start near Angelas then proceed through town to Union and then up to the football field. All Sparta High students are encouraged to participate in the parade and should begin lining up around 4:30 - 5. Other groups interested in participating should contact Kim VanDusen at the High School.
Mock Rock 2014
Mock Rock will be held on 10/10/14 from 12:25 - 1:35. Doors will open for parents and other audience members at at 12:20. Please plan to arrive at school about that time - you will not be allowed in the gym until then to allow for classes to practice one last time before the big show.
