Thank you to all of our staff and parents for all your help in making Homecoming 2011 a great success!!

More than 1500 food items were collected for the Peace Lutheran food bank and more than $700 was raised for the Spartan Angel Tree Program!! Great work!

Mid Way Update

What a great week we are having!!
Dance tickets are still available at lunch through Thursday. They are now $20. They will not be sold on Friday during lunches But will be available at the door for those deciding at the last minute.

In the race for the RED APPLE--the juniors are currently in the lead with 17 points, the seniors and sophomores are tied for second with 14 points, and the freshmen are making a great first effort.

Tomorrow is tourist day--
Today was the last day for penny a point. Monies are on their way to Choice One bank to be counted. Thanks to them for doing that for us year after year!
The food drive ends tomorrow. All the food will be picked up the first of next week by a representative of the food bank at Peace Lutheran Church--to be distributed to local families.
Thanks to everyone for making SHS Homecoming 2011 such a great success so far!!

Congratulations to the Juniors--winners of the class t shirt design contest!! 2nd place were the sophomores--third the seniors and 4th the freshmen. All the shirts look great this year!!

Reminder that penny a point and food drive end Wednesday and Thursday respectively. The pennies and food will go to help families in our schools!! Please be generous and remember these contests count for double the points!!

Dress Up Days, food drive, penny a point and more

Homecoming is a wonderful community event in Sparta!! As a thank you to their town, Sparta students include community service as part of their Homecoming festivities each year!!
Two of our all time favorites are back this year!

Penny a Point--Each year classes compete to see who can raise the most money for their class and the Spartan Angel Tree Program (which provides holiday gifts for families in Sparta). Advisers collect money ranging from pennies to checks and Choice One Bank generously sorts and counts for the classes. The winning class earns points toward the "Red Apple" and helps the community!! The competition ends at 8 am on Wednesday October 12th.

Food Drive: Every year classes also collect food items for a local food bank. This year we are again helping with the food bank at Peace Lutheran church. Classes collect non perishable food items which count as one point for each packaged unit. Packages cannot be broken into smaller unites to count as additional items. Baby food and diapers count as additional points. Class advisers collect and count food items. This competition ends on Thursday, October 13th.

Also as a way to unify our classes, we participate in school-wide dress up days each of the 6 days leading up to Homecoming Day!! Our theme this year is a trip around the world. Please see the list below for each day's theme.

Homecoming Homerooms

Homecoming morning students will report immediately to their homerooms (below) for attendance and then be released to the gymnasium for the formal assembly. These homeroom lists will be posted in each pod as well as on the pillars when you first enter the building. Students should locate their names prior to Homecoming day so that they can report to the correct area.

Homecoming Dance Tickets

Homecoming Dance Tickets will go on sale September 25th during lunches. The cost the first week is 410. $15 the second week and $20 at the door!! Get yours early and save. Also, be sure to check with Mrs. Reyers regarding guest passes for the dance after Thursday September 15th. ! The Dance is form 8 pm - 11 pm at the high school. We lock our doors to new entries at 10pm.

Reminder that all guest passes must be completed prior to purchasing tickets for your guest. Please see Mrs. Reyers or download the attached form.
